On Sunday June 3, as part of the Occupy the Land Unconference, the garden will be hosting a compost workshop. Here’s the description – all are welcome!

Sunday, June 3, 2pm
Morris-Jumel Community Garden, 457 W 162nd St, Manhattan
Lets talk about community composting inside and outside, in the garden, in empty lots, and everywhere – small scale and large scale and everything in between.

Our garden is composting food waste, garden waste, paper and neighborhood leaves in our 3 bin pallet system; our outdoor worm bin as well as at home with bokashi food fermentation.

Bring your ideas and concerns and lets figure out better ways to keep organics out of NYC solid waste streams and repair and nourish our soils.

If possible please bring one pound or more of compostable organics (broadly defined) preferably obtained from outside of your home.

Upcoming Event – The Garden is hosting a Summer Solstice Concert as part of  Make Music NY on the Thursday June 21st 4-10pm, if you want to perform email Philipp –  prassmann (at) gmail (dot) com
